Windchild is up at Zazzle!

I have a new image up at my Zazzle store; it's Windchild!

This is a Runequest character, and was originally painted for Different Worlds (the house organ for Chaosium, which published Runequest at the time.)

It was supposed to be my first magazine cover; but when I turned it in, the art director told me that they were no longer putting random images on the covers. Now the cover had to have something to do with an article in the magazine. So I wrote a whole article about this race, including several more images, stats, and all kinds of other information.

When the magazine came out, and I got my contributor's copy, I was stunned to find a totally different image on the cover (which, by the way, had nothing to do with any of the articles.) My picture was moved inside, and became a tiny little image next to the article I'd written. At least it was in color!

My actual debut cover was Music Lover; and it didn't happen for another 3 years. But it's a much more popular image, so it all worked out!

New Stuff at Zazzle!

There are several new things up at my Zazzle store today.

You can now get the Ferretrooper on a card and a mousepad.

I was delighted to find that you can put images on puzzles; so after all these years Music Lover is a jigsaw puzzle!
And, much to my amusement, you can get things printed on the finest melamine plates, as well! So, since I did a bunch of plates for the Arcade Gacha Festival in Second Life®, I just had to put one of them on a real life plate, too!

Too much fun!

Santa's Puppy Quilt

So, about a year ago, I took up quilting.

My grandmother was a quilter, but she lived too far away for me to learn from her. I did, however, have a quilt that she had made; and I spent many hours of my childhood tracing the blocks with my finger.

I'm not sure why I didn't start quilting years ago. But now I have, and I'm enjoying it. A lot.

I haven't actually finished many things yet. I've been busy, and my health hasn't been all that great during the last year. As I'm getting better, though, I'm doing more. And I have Plans.

This is a quilt that I made for Santa, to put on his lap when people bring their puppies in for pictures. It's  washable, which makes it way easier to clean up from a messy puppy (or small child) than his expensive suit. (I put a layer of oilcloth inside, under the batting, so it's totally waterproof.)

Turns out that although he used it plenty of times this season, it didn't get dirty. So I'm going to wait a bit before I throw it in the washer, since the batting is bound to shrink a bit. Which is a little scary.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to. I have a bed runner top done for him, that just needs to be quilted (I'm doing it myself, on my home sewing machine,) and a twin size quilt top from a class I took last March that I hope to get put together sometime this coming week. I'll post pictures when I get 'em!

Any of you guys quilt?

What a Knight up at Zazzle!

The holidays are over, and it's time to get back to work! I'm starting by putting "What a Knight for Apparitions" up in my Zazzle store. This was the cover for Dragon Magazine #113, back in September of 1986. Whew, long time ago!

It's a picture of a young warrior getting a new sword from a ghostly maiden. I was particularly proud of the helmet and the broken sword, although I do love the colors in this one.

Other than that, I'm mostly working on quilting. (I'll post some pictures of a couple of pieces I've finished soon.) I'll be digitizing thread designs for use on long arm quilting machines, and probably doing some quilt patterns and embroidery files as well, if there's any interest.

Let me know, if you'd like that!
